About This Product

The Super Reef is the largest prefabricated artificial reef manufactured in the United States. Designed for large-scale essential fish habitat restoration, this structure delivers ship-like vertical relief and structural complexity without relying on retired vessels.

Engineered as a modular system, the Super Reef can reach heights from 15 to 25 feet when configured with integrated habitat accessories. Weighing approximately 16 tons, the structure provides substantial mass and seabed stability, making it suitable for Gulf of Mexico environments, including resistance to subsidence and instability from hurricanes and high-energy marine environments.

While the standard Super Reef design stands at 15 feet, it can be enhanced with an additional extension pole to achieve up to 25 feet of vertical relief. This added height significantly expands habitat stratification, benefiting a broader range of marine species and increasing overall ecological diversity. Furthermore, integrating an Ecosystem Reef within the internal structure introduces greater habitat complexity, strengthening ecological function, enhancing biodiversity, and maximizing the reef’s long-term restoration potential.

Ship-Scale Habitat Without Vessel Conversion

When deployed in groups, the Super Reef is designed to replicate the size, complexity, and fish-attracting performance of a traditional large vessel reef. Its vertical profile and internal void space create ideal conditions for demersal fish habitat.

Unlike large vessel reef deployment, the Super Reef offers predictable engineering specifications, repeatable design standards, and simplified environmental compliance. This makes it an attractive solution for artificial reef construction companies, mitigation reef projects, and state artificial reef programs seeking large-format habitat structures with consistent performance characteristics.

High-Impact Fisheries Enhancement

The structure’s scale creates significant vertical relief and complexity in offshore environments, increasing surface area for biological colonization and promoting long-term ecosystem restoration. The Super Reef supports fisheries enhancement initiatives across the Gulf Coast's artificial reef construction efforts.

As a reef deployment company in the United States serving municipalities, environmental agencies, and private reef building clients, Reefmaker provides custom artificial reef design and artificial reef installation services tailored to bathymetry, permitting requirements, and ecological objectives.
